From December 28 to 29, 2024, the China-ASEAN Xiangqi Online Exchange Tournament was successfully held on the TianTian Xiangqi app. The event attracted 27 players from five countries—China, Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Brunei—to showcase the charm of Xiangqi and their exceptional skills.
The Malaysian Xiangqi Association sent six representatives to compete:
- Men’s Category: Chong Yun Qi, LEE KAH CHUN, Sasaki Yuuki, CHONG ZI HONG
- Women’s Category: WONG YU CHENG
- Youth Category: Teh Yu Heng
After two days of intense matches, the Malaysian players delivered an outstanding performance and achieved remarkable results:
- Men’s Individual Competition:
- 4th Place – LEE KAH CHUN
- 5th Place – Chong Yun Qi
- Women’s Individual Competition:
- Runner-up – WONG YU CHENG
- Youth Category:
- Champion – Teh Yu Heng
Notably, Teh Yu Heng claimed the championship title in the youth category with exceptional skill and composure, bringing pride to Malaysia. In the women’s category, WONG YU CHENG demonstrated remarkable determination and perseverance, ultimately securing the runner-up position. In the men’s individual competition, LEE KAH CHUN and Chong Yun Qi finished in fourth and fifth places respectively, showcasing their strength and potential on the international stage.
This tournament not only served as a competitive event but also as an important platform for cultural exchange among ASEAN countries in the realm of Xiangqi.
